The only offer I have received is from UndyingKnight. I will run a poll to see if most are ok with him hosting.

Hey all, I offered to host because I have a good machine for it as well as a great connection and will have no problem at all getting nwnx running, I just want the server to stick around and be able to run great and stay up and i'll make sure that happens! Smile

Voted yes because I trust him and think the server will be up a lot more often when I'm playing with him being the host.

I voted 'unsure', based on the facts that he was banned just a few weeks ago ... and his crashing during pvp in the past might indicate not much stability.
Also based on the facts that apparently the server is suffering low pop.

Not all that concerned about the possibility of him ending up to host and somehow coincidentally all my characters get deleted or start missing items etc -because I'm afg(away from game) a lot lately.

at least Myra has no rank this time around so players/character's can't hold my absence against her like last time.

Myra hits on some of my hesitations as well. On the other hand if there is cheating, player mistreatment, or any other ill happenings the player base will just dissipate into nothing.

I voted no.

Server host should be somebody mature.

I appreciate all the feedback.. perhaps it was bad timing on the host decision since I WAS banned week ago. However I'd just like to say the only thing I'd be doing is hosting the server but I'm understanding on how you feel.. oh and the server would have its own CPU to be hosted on but by the looks of it I won't be hosting so I do hope someone is found.. thank you theevals for voting unsure and not just auto picking no.. I respect that.. p.s I'd never tamper with ANYONES characters

This is silly.
If the guy is willing to host, let him.
If it all goes down the drain, Felix will have a compressed Server Vault that he can send to the next guy trying.
There are no real risks.

There might be risks... weither they count as real.. not sure what would be considered a real risk.

For example.. two similair anphillia servers running at the same time dividing the communitie's population (but this only really matters in the event things pick up again to having in game numbers larger than 25).
I'm all for extremely different anphillia servers running at the same time like the good old days.. adds variety and filters player's prefered playing styles.

Another risk could be players perma-quiting... however i'm not sure if that is a valid risk if considering how they might of unofficially-casually took a timeout/temp-quit already.

I'm with Moth. The guy has messed up in the past, but some host is better than no host. I say we trial host, let him do it for a bit as a trial run, then if it doesn't work out, we go back or on to the next guy. I vote yes.

If we trail host, might be a good idea to start things from scratch?
Trail wipe...

-new chars leveling up from the beginning (with the snow removed please...)

If other players come back they'll just have to invest more time and possibly get hooked on having to start over.
I bet there is a possibility that a wipe might bring back a bit of roleplay... but it could always remain sort of how it's become... ooc interactions to complete in game tasks/goals -completely ignoring the game's aspect that the characters are alive and surrounded by monsters or trees/snow etc.
(people hardly play their main characters anymore and solely use them to equip their alts or assault/defend.)
And new players might feel less left behind lvls wise?

Would also make less files to transpher over.

(Just thinking... would be fun to finally keep record of which side gets first relic capture, or which character gets first ever kill in pvp. Among many other firsts...)

It seems there are some new forum logins appearing over this poll topic, and each time one is made the "no" vote rises... xD I'm all for a wipe if its agreed on in a different poll topic, however the last poll topic didn't go to well about a server wipe..

Well... are most of the players who disagreed with even still playing...? xD

I've been keeping track of the poll and unless I am wrong in my guessing the numbers changed from 7 to 9 for yes and 9 to 11 for no. the 0 posts of four resent new accounts would suggest two voted yes and two voted no.
It's good that Mega_trond finaly made a forum account xD and I'm sure Felix can check who voted for which option.

I'm a new player. I was asked by that player to register and vote yes for them.

After reading some of their posts I voted no.

In game they seemed a bit disappointed and then I see their newest post.

I thought voting no was a valid option, apparently it's not.

I have a good computer, and a good connection. I would offer to host if I had a second machine to play on. I'd have to host and play on the same machine which would be unfair to you all and probably cause all sorts of issues. If you're willing to risk that, I could potentially host. I also work 50 hours a week, so if something dies you may have to wait as much as 10 hours for me to get home and handle it. That also assumes I don't go anywhere after work, which does happen. I'm also an odd time zone compared to most of the rest of the staff, which has several major pros and cons anyway. I haven't felt much motivation to play ANY games recently since I beat Bioshock Infinite. It was so amazing I don't want to play anything else and ruin how awesome that was.

Figured I'd take part in this poll at least, Moth Man's input pretty much summed it up for me. Props to Felix for taking the baton for as long as he has though... even if they did mess over my beautiful stunning fist. Wink

So i been doing some thinking and heres what i came up with...I WILL re-enstate my offer to host ONLY if the server is wiped.. I DO think that it has a good potential on bringing back alot of the servers population due to some of the reasons Theevals said.. One big one is that players who don't already have one or more level 40 already to begin with will most likely start to play((not to mention all the old players who would also come back just for the fact of "starting over")). I know for a fact myself that if I didn't have atleast one level 40 in my vault even with all the love I have for anphillia I still wouldn't start from the bottom with all those other players out there who already have numerous amounts of level 40's in their vaults/etc.. I say we WIPE the server and we all start out from scratch again.. What do we have to LOSE? I mean the server population is already near rock bottom and I know we don't want it to get down to 1-2 players or even none at all..It would also be a GREAT opportunity to bring back one of the big parts of the server which is lacking in my opinion, that being the ROLE PLAYING.. I really think that by WIPING the server and starting over the population will rise back up since it will give /everyone/ a reason to start playing again.... Picture being a new player with no level 40's in your vault, its /alot/ more difficult getting items/levels for your character when you don't have other high levels in your vault to get their items with/etc...Wiping the server will give /everyone/ a fresh start and new beginning.. Honestly I don't think we have anything to lose... Old players with one or more level 40's in your vault I encourage you to give this some thought, if you want the server population to rise up for longer then a month then I'd strongly advise going for the wipe!! Smile

agreed, its not even a call of a "choice", i see it as we have none, we have confirmation of a host, that being said we WILL for sure 100% have a stable server where if we WIPE, the fresh new start (which i personally have been dreaming of for long years now).. it will never go to waste and we will always have it backed up and running.

Please do what needs too be done, i dont wanna sound like a broken record, just please for once, think of it as a savior not "taking a risk of loosing players". Its the best time to wipe, in the last 5 years, or so.

It's always a tough call when to wipe and not.
And at no point will you have 100% of the players agreeing to wipe.
That being said, with the population as low as it is now and the move of the Server, this might be a good time to do it.
While it might attract new players, you might also lose old players.
But in my experince, most of the old players you lose come back eventually, and things tend to even themselves out.

There is much involved in running a server successfully and timing is certainly one of them.
