Reminds me of when I used to play on a Warhammer RP server that had cnr. I filled a few dozen bags full of raw gems and the server crashed, sad times.

It'll get less frustraiting after the 10th time of losing a full load.
(unless it's mithril... there should always be compensation for that if it happens).

I think that besides Geo I'm/was the craziest crafter around (George got banned like 10 times, the server changed name uncountable times and he always made a master crafter )

My advice to you: Put bags of holding in one page of your inventory (15 bags, is it?), fill them up, smelt once, go for one more trip, smelt for second time, xyz ore smelting mastered.
No risk of losing the mule.
I lost that f*cking mule so many times I got tired of hiring it.
