New areas with a new major story arc! Empty New areas with a new major story arc!

Hello everyone!

As the title implies, I've started work on a set of new areas which folds into the story arc of the endless winter that is currently plaguing Anphillia.

This will be set up as episodic adventures that play out on a neighbouring group of islands, called the Nova Atoll.
Using a ship, the Asahi Maru, as the hub for these adventures.

The first adventure will take place on the main island in the atoll, Nova Prime.
As you and your friends complete all the quests and defeat the boss on the first island, a new travel destination (with a higher difficulty) will be unlocked on the Asahi Maru - moving the narrative forward.
There you will embark on a new adventure - which will lead to yet another adventure and so on. Until you complete all the quests on all the islands and unravel the story arc and get to the bottom of what is going on.

These adventures will be based on the tried premise of "Complete Quest A to unlock Quest B which unlocks Quest C..." that we all hate from all the major MMORPG's out there. Razz

Each island will however have its own theme (Undeads being the theme on Nova Prime) in an attempt to give more variety in the gameplay and quests.



The first episode (Nove Prime) will be complete in the near future. Once that is done I will start working on the second episode. And so on.

I uploaded a short video of how the story begins for the Nove Prime adventure, feel free to have a look at it.
It's a rough draft of how it will eventually be, but you get the idea of the narrative and the small scripted events that will be in these adventures.

So look forward to some good old fashion "questing" in the future, assuming that's your cup of tea!

will this be lead by a dm causing the roleplay of anph to be paused/ignored so players of either faction group together...
or will it be sort of like condors or any other "major" place where if players forget the module's base rp it's their choice to cross-faction group pve... ?

My first idea was to make it into small "quarantined" areas, kinda like Instances in WoW.

However, that turned out to be very complicated and makes everything so much harder.
I opted against that.
This means you will be susceptible to ganks while on one of these adventures and once an adventure is done, it cannot be played through again until the server reboots.

For instance; lets say a group of Cleavens attack a group of Axfells that are half-way done with one adventure on one of the island. The Cleaven party could then continue the adventure from where the Axfells perished.
Of course, the Axfell party could then return and reclaim their adventure, so to speak.
And so on.

Progression on the current adventure on the island is not tracked by a character or party's progress, but is stored in the module.
So unless you complete the whole adventure before the server reboots, you will have to play through it again to gain access to the next island.
Progressions from one island to another is however stored on the character.
I realize that this can be inconvenient, but that's just how this module is set up and not much I can do about it, without tons of work-arounds.


So in short, it will work like the adventure in Condor's Scream does;
Open world PvP.
First-come, first-served.
Overall progress tracked between reboots by means of "key" items and such.
