Server Trouble Log

Still losing connections, server times out then everyone is out but char still in same location when timeout happened when I log back in.. I think it is something with your router or the NIC on the server not the mod..

Yeah... it's disconnecting at 9:30 AM and PM EST again despite the tech switching everything outside. I noticed it this morning and again this evening, first time I've been home to see it. I'm on it.

you don't have to be there to see anything, if you use eventvwr.msc you can see what is causing it if it is a windows issue, maybe you have defrag set up on a timer, or virus scanner.

It's dropping all devices, not just the server cpu, so it is most likely not that. By here to see it I meant in my house period. Any other suggestions?

How is it setup in your house? Wired or wireless connection on the server hosting the mod? DHCP on your internal IP addressing or do you have the IP to the server reserved? Port forwarding setup on router or is it set in a DMZ zone? Just getting some info to see if I can think of anything for you..

I have more questions. Are the drops at 9:30 am EST happening everyday?

You mean your whole internet connection craps out for a moment during this time then comes back in a few minutes without you doing anything?
Who is your ISP?

As far as I can tell they are happening every day pretty much like clockwork. I am not here at 9:30 AM/PM every day, so I couldn't 100% verify this. I have Time Warner Cable.

The server CPU is wireless. In fact all of my devices are connected wirelessly now. I tested wired connections with my Xbox which sits right beside the modem/router combo crap they gave me and it still dropped connection. The server was wireless before when I hosted and this was not an issue then. I have a static IP set up with the ports forwarded to that IP.

I use Mediacomm and they gave me a combo wireless/Modem, it took three to finally get one that worked, it sounds like same problem I had, first one was just randomly rebooting and the second one would keep kicking my devices off and reassigning DHCP IP's even the reserved ones (Firmware corrupt). I did get one that worked but then decided to just go out and get the Motorola Surfboard Combo cable modem. Best thing I did, my speed went from 17mg download /1.4mg upload to 28mg download/2.4mg upload just by doing that.. If it is an option for you or anyone with cable ISP it is well worth it for me but always good to research what will work on your ISP.. I find most hardware provided by the cable companies are beat up and outdated..

Well I have been on most of the night now and have not been bumped off, would do it twice a night but nothing tonight.. Yet.

I'm going to reboot here in about an hour or so, I'll reset everything to be safe, cause I'll be out of town for the next 2 days.

Have you looked at your modem/router logs through your browser? It should be throwing error messages during those disconnect times.

You can look at your windows logs to see if you're IP address is being re-aquired from your router locally quite easily by going straight to log entries with the timestamp matching the time of the disconnects, this will help you narrow down why you're losing connection temporarily, from there you can look at your router.

You'll likely have to turn on logging within your router settings because most routers have it turned off on factory settings.

It sounds like your ISP is dropping the ball, I googled the issue you're having and alot of time warner cable people are having the same problem you are, they recently bought out another cable company and are expanding more rapidly than their infrastructure can handle, which would explain why my traceroutes to your IP address are filled with bad hops.

It could also be a bad splitter.

Server went down real quick due to my power going out for like 10 seconds for no apparent reason, i think a fuse might of went and that caused it, it's back up and good to go though!

The plug for the router was pulled out of the power strip for some reason, anyway we can count that as a reset since we needed one anyhow!

How's the server running in game..? Any lag or the such? It has been up for 5 days straight now, so if it's still running good i'll be more then pleased with that.

When I was on about five hours ago it was running really well even with my backwoods garbage internet !! I would be satisfied if I was you!

Well I need to move the powerstip that holds the plug for my router, I just unplugged it again, causing the server to go down. Sorry folks, its up and running.

Server went down about 5 minutes ago.

Also I agree with Sniper, it's running really smooth.
