Shades/Shadow Conjurations

Post  Rann Cora on Thu May 16, 2013 5:52 pm

So, I think we can all agree they are a tad overpowered right now. I am no scripter or builder, so changing them is likely not something I am comfortable doing. If I COULD nerf them, I would probably just make it so they can't move. That way they can't be so mobile. Also probably tone down the offense somewhat, cause WOW. They're nuts. So, what I am thinking of doing, is simply outlawing their use in PvP and assaulting. This seems fair. Discuss.

Also note, I will be out of town the next two days. Don't break anything while I'm gone.

EDIT: Also potentially make them so they can only be cast and not used from an item, much like the polymorph spells.

My first pvp kill was by this summon back when abigail was around lvl 15, I was retreating back to axfell.
Luckily it wasn't against a certain class type at higher lvl.

After using these summon's during pve and discovering a potential/probable glitch, I agree that they should not be used during pvp (even though despite their immunities they do have a weakness other than time.)
Though I must admit, next time I get ambushed while out gaining xp... It will be minorly annoying to have to work fast to try and survive while unsummoning. I imagine it will be the equivalent to removing a weapon as a warrior while being attacked and fighting back.

Whoever might of used them during assaults or pvp before wasn't being very considerate/fair.

I think I’ve seen players with ‘umd’ use scrolls to summon balors for pve assistance -without the summon being extended a player would need to spend a lot of money buying stacks upon stacks. Even so they might be better off killing things through other means.

Theirs a lot of ways to kill/paralyze/disable those summons, i don't even see how they can be an issue, no one uses the nwn mechanics that are free for us to all use, because lack of knowledge or know-how on how to counter these guys.

cm'on, maybe ill post a thread on how to pwn these summons. . . .

If you want them to be immobile, you can do that without scripts. All summon templates can be found in the toolset.

Be sure to backup the MOD before you do anything. Smile

You simply open the MOD, open any area, press the Paint Creature button top right, hit the Custom Tab button.
Now you will see all NPC's in the MOD.
Then click "+NPC" and then "+Other".
This is where all Summons are.
Now find the NPC's by their respective names, like "Greater Shadow Conjuration Shadow".
Right-click on it and pick Edit.
Then as the new window pops up, pick the Statistics tab and down to the right you should find Speed and Movement Rate.
Set it to Immobile.
Press OK.
Repeat on other two Shadow Conjuration Summons.
Save the MOD.
Restart the Server.

Good luck!

Haven't personally tried them out yet but heard of their strong powers through fort whisperings. I was lucky enough to be in a party with many being summoned the other day and they out damaged and tanked a buffed epic dragon summon.

You could make their movement incredibly slow, almost immobile to keep them as a distraction.

And while you're at it.. please replace all weapons with blunt rubber ones.. because they make you bleed.

ohh and if you could also outlaw all armors and shields so that people can't hide behind them.

Now Don't even get me started on all that spell casting!

Summons/shadows/shades haven't been whined about ...until now.. you know when everyone is low level with mediocre gear {at best} because there was a server wipe..
too quote Mothman.. "If you don't wanna die.. stay inside the fort" {<-- probably more of a paraphrase actually.. but same gist}

Have a Nice Day!

Shades/Shadow Conjurations

Post  Lunatik on Sat May 18, 2013 11:19 pm

I used em on and off on Felix's server.

It was off an item, and worked as a distraction {at best} when I did use it. It didn't last long {about 60 secs then and now}. But in 40th level areas.. seemed about as tough as skellys.. So if the spell/castings were broken i never noticed. but there's countless things that some ppl think as overpowering.. and others don't.

is everyone going to be equally matched all the time to everyone else?? {i wish! lol}

now.. at low level with semi-lame gear its a good spell to help level up. but i've already seen it faceplant vs 20th level areas and critters.. so i think there some overreaction about how "overpowering" these things are..

and in pvp its easy to get caught off guard if you're ambushed and not expecting anything with your buffs softening up.

I do not understand why these things have support in staying as they are in the game.

I really do hope the reason they are protective of these summon's is because they have not stumbled upon the glitch. Because it is a glitch which has the potential to create unfair/abnormal advantages/disadvantages.
(imagine how useful a warrior would be if everyone had an item of immunity to knockdown and crits)

I haven't seen their hp drop, I have seen them held in place despite any buff or cure being used.

Making the summon just stand still would change the way it can be used during pve. It would take away the aspect of very very low chances of death and xp loss while gaining xp and being able to visit area's alone.

I really hope it resorts to moving a slow pace rather than full stop completely.
While full-stop movement would/might prevent the glitch from happening, very slow movement might hinder all attempts at producing the glitch.
(Slow enough that buffing it with haste would simply cause it to walk.)
Slow movement might also eat away at the summon's time of being alive -so the scroll/item users would go broke or waste their money/time trying to rely on these summon's.
