Elitism defined
Speaking with others I feel that I have a different definition then they. What I took it to mean is OOC being a closed clique of people who feel they are superior to others and mostly confining their characters to that role because of their OOC elitism.
Is this what anyone else took it to mean?

Re: Elitism defined
Elitism I always thought is kind of ooc group that powergames. which causes the elite. like munchkin players.
But there is a untitled definition in my head for just a unspoken agreement people have who hang out with just the same group and shun others.

It seems to me that elitism is just a word we use to describe behavior we don't like.

Re: Elitism defined
It's different everywhere.
But attributable to NWN, it's when a player forms a niche group which alienates and otherwise discourages others, or imposes certain restrictions on various aspects of the game, beyond the rules.
Technically you do not need a group, though it is more imposing to have one.
Everyone's elitist to some degree, as everyone thinks they're better at X than someone else. Elitism is acting upon that in a negative way.

Re: Elitism defined
my view is more bitter and less political correct
for me elitism in online communities is peeps who feel inferior IRL and need to assert themselves with knowledge that has no other practical application than in the game they play.
this often done by finding someone just as insecure as u are and grouping up with them.
because in the elitist mentality u only need atleast 1 person to agree with u to convince yourself that u are 100% right in whatever u do or think.
world of warcraft have tons of these in battlearenas.
not to mention dota and all the clones.
nwn isnt far behind with its charbuilds and coding.
the most disgusting part of elitism is the way these peeps climb on others to make themselves seen and heard:
"if u cant get the rest of community to see u as someone thats good at charbuild or pvp or codeing or whatever, make sure to smear the guy next to u so u look good."
if u ever become a victim of elitist peeps online, pitty them and know that they have a biiiiiiiig chip on their shoulder.

Re: Elitism defined
Or just kill them, saying that it was really worth it.....
There's only one way to get rid off the buly....Give him something he won't forget that easily
If it's a group of bulies, just use AoE spells or be quick with criticals.
....And then pray you won't get banned hehe.

Re: Elitism defined
I think its important to clarify the separation between IC and OOC. IC elitism is fine as long as it truly IC. OOC elitism is oh so lame. To be fair I really don't feel like we have a problem here with elitism. We love new players no matter how adept they are at anything NWN.
